Permit for installing and decommissioning flammable liquid tanks, such as propane/LPG tanks.
Applications
For new or relocated fuel tanks, you must get gas piping permit from the Seattle King County Department of Public Health, Environmental Health.
Apply online at the MyBuildingPermit website. Navigate to storage tanks after selecting the project and activity type beneath the fire category.

Inspections
We must inspect work to ensure code compliance.
Gas piping inspection must occur prior to inspection of your LPG tank permit, call 206-296-4932 to schedule an inspection.
This permit is not for all fireworks use. It is illegal to sell or use consumer fireworks in unincorporated King County.

Special Event Permit FAQ
When is an application for a special event permit required?
An application for a special event permit is required under the following conditions:
Temporary Structures:
- Erecting temporary tents or membrane structures in excess of 400 square feet individually or an aggregate area of multiple tents totaling 700 square feet.
- Constructing or erecting stages, bleachers, or other temporary structures.
Occupancy and Safety:
- When the occupancy of the event is expected to be 50 or more persons.
- When using temporary heating or cooking facilities.
- When using generators or other temporary electrical and power sources.
Special Activities:
- Events involving open flames, heating, or generators.
- Events with amusement rides or inflatable structures/rides.
Construction of Structures:
- If the event includes construction or erection of a structure greater than 120 square feet or intended for the gathering of 10 or more persons.
- Temporary structures intended to be used for a period of less than 180 days (beyond which it is considered permanent and requires different permits).
What are the submittal requirements for a special event permit application?
Submittal requirements include:
- Completed Special Event Permit Application form and payment of the permit fee.
- Site plan drawn to a minimum of 1/4” = 1’ (1/8” = 1’ may be accepted for larger sites on a case-by-case basis). Minimum sheet size is 11” x 17”.
- Detailed site plan including:
- Location and size of tents, canopies, and inflatable structures.
- Distances from property lines, buildings, heating units, generators, and other structures.
- Location of emergency access routes and first aid stations.
- Exit locations and emergency exit dispersal area.
- Location and distances between tables, chairs, and exits.
- Indicate expected occupant load of tent/membrane structure.
What is the application deadline?
- A complete application must be submitted 30 calendar days prior to the event start date.
- If submitted less than 30 calendar days prior, your event activities may be delayed, limited, or unpermitted by King County.
What are the key guidelines for special events?
Key guidelines include:
- Temporary heating of enclosed spaces.
- Temporary cooking facilities and food trucks.
- Amusement rides and inflatable structures/rides.
- Temporary stages, bleachers, or other structures.
- Temporary electrical and power sources.
